Communication's new IPJetDirect delivers
high quality internet access direct
to Africa's mobile network operators

launch of IPJetDirect, an accelerated
internet access product that delivers
data direct to small antenna on
client premises. IPJetDirect provides
direct, high speed, low latency
connections to the global internet
backbone - and other selected networks
- to improve quality issues often
associated with both mobile and
African content.

invests in East Africa fibre

Communications announced today that
it has purchased a 155 Mbps (STM1)
circuit from SEACOM, owner of the
first fibre optic cable which will
be constructed to connect South
Africa to Europe along the east
coast of Africa. Peter Gbedemah,

the purchase endorses Gateway Communications'
commitment to the future of telecommunications
across Africa.

Communications secures Spectrum Licence
in Lagos, Nigeria
Gateway
Communications has secured a Spectrum
Licence in Nigeria allowing it to
enhance its Internet Access and
VPN solutions. It will use the spectrum
licence to launch next generation,
metropolitan area networks (MAN),
for example linking bank branches
all across Lagos in real time and
with high bandwidth. The spectrum
licence enables Gateway to move
away from other, potentially congested
bands, to deliver true broadband
for business with over 10Mbps of
'always-on' bandwidth - ensuring
Nigeria retains its place in the
vanguard of investing in and deploying
new communication technology in
Africa.

Communications rolls out MPLS VPN
Services across West Africa

to acquire GS Telecom in $37.5m transaction
Gateway
Communications, a leading provider
of pan-African voice and data connectivity
services, has agreed to acquire
GS Telecom, provider of data connectivity
services to corporate customers
and telecommunications operators
in Africa. The transaction was valued
at approximately $37.5 million and
is to be financed through a combination
of cash and funds from a newly issued
bond. The transaction is expected
to complete mid-May subject to certain
conditions.
To
meet the rapidly growing demand
for bandwidth capacity in Africa
Gateway Communications (Gateway),
the largest independent provider
of satellite services focused solely
on the African market, has increased
its contracted satellite capacity
bandwidth to 555MHz, up by 84%,
from 302MHz a year ago. Gateway's
network now manages the capacity
on 15 satellite transponders on
four satellites, servicing over
400 satellite links into 30
African countries.
