London, August 14, 2008 – Gateway Communications, the leading communications service provider in Africa, has continued to expand its pan African reach with the establishment of a Central African regional office in Cameroon. Gateway has pioneered the delivery of high quality and cost effective voice, data and managed network solutions across the continent. Africa is the fastest growing telecommunications market in the world and the Cameroon office will strengthen the sales and customer service network across 40 countries that Gateway operates in.

Central Africa is a large and diverse region with huge opportunity, consisting of Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, which collectively comprise the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC). Sao Tome and Principe, which has strong economic links to CEMAC, is also included in this new Gateway Communications region.

Gateway is also announcing that Lanre Kolade has been promoted to the newly-created position of Managing Director for the Central Africa region. A graduate of the London Business School and Obafemi Awolowo University, Lanre has been successful in growing the Gateway business within Cameroon over the last two years, following two years in francophone Africa, and takes the lead in establishing the Central African regional head office.

In order to service new customer demand from landlocked nations in the Central African region, and across the continent, Gateway Communications has bought additional capacity from Intelsat, a leading provider of fixed satellite services worldwide.

“Our strategic focus on Africa ensures that we continue to meet the demanding voice, data and satellite networking needs of African GSM operators and multi-national businesses operating in Africa,” said Peter Gbedemah, CEO of Gateway Communications. “The new Cameroon headquarters and the expansion in Central Africa is testimony to our commitment to support and develop a strong local presence, skills and expertise to deliver the best communications network to Africa.”
