In a growing indication of international investment interest in the rapidly expanding African communications market, Gateway Communications, a leading provider of voice and data connectivity in Africa, today announced the successful placement of $100 million of high yield senior secured bonds.

Gateway Communications will today (19 October 2006) announce it will become the first African satellite connectivity provider to integrate its network with the Home and Visitor Location Registers (HLR & VLR) of its customers. Both operators and phone users gain huge benefits from more efficient routing, providing cost savings and higher quality calls. The benefits will be available from the first quarter of 2007.

Gateway Communications has appointed Paul Ziegler from AT&T Inc. to assume the role of Sales Director in its Carrier Services Division. Zimbabwean born Paul will be responsible for the continued growth of Gateway’s Service Provider business, and will work exclusively in the African carrier market focusing on helping African mobile and fixed line carriers improve quality and network efficiency through network outsourcing, regional networking and international interconnection.
